NATIONAL HUMOR MONTH!
April is National Humor Month. National Humor Month was founded in 1976 by comedian and best-selling author Larry Wilde. It was designed to heighten public awareness on how joy and the therapeutic value of laughter can improve overall health and wellness.
The United Nations International Labor Organization recently issued a report that states. "Stress has become one of the most serious health issues of our times." The quickest, most effective way to beat stress is to laugh. A good laugh the best medicine for the heart. Laughter lowers blood pressure, reduces stress hormone levels, works your abdominal muscles, improves cardiac health, improves the immune system, triggers endorphins (feel good hormones), relieves pain and produces a general sense of well-being. Scientific studies by Dr. Otto Warburg have proven that the lack of oxygen in the body is a major contributor to sickness. Laughing increases the supply of oxygen to every cell in the body. Laughter Yoga, or laughter therapy is an exercise and method which brings physical, mental and social wellbeing to all in a short period of time. Dr. Williams Fry of Stanford University has proven that 10 minutes of hearty laughter is equal to 30 minutes of aerobic exercise. The purpose of aerobic exercise is to stimulate the heart rate, increase blood circulation and supply oxygen. Please watch the video below introducing Laughter Yoga. Stronger Life will be providing Laughter Yoga in additional to fitness training and nutritional guidance.
