May is National Osteoporosis Prevention and Awareness Month. Osteoporosis is a loss of bone density that can occur as we age. It is responsible for over a million broken bones each year, and is a major cause of fractures, back pain, spinal problems and loss of independence. Now is the time to get educated about osteoporosis. Eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly can help slow down the loss of bone mass and help prevent fractures.
